While the University of Illinois has been called a pioneer in providing accessibility and support for students with disabilities, certain simple items — such as buttons to call and operate the elevator in Gregory Hall — remain out of reach.

Displaced Bristol Place residents to return home

The site of the old Bristol Place neighborhood on Bradley Avenue and Market Street in Champaign was demolished in March of 2018. The neighborhood was riddled with crime, was a blight that could not be eradicated without rebuilding the area from scratch, the Bristol Park board stated.

    In the past four months, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District shut down seven restaurants because of issues that put customers at risk. But it also shut down six food establishments because owners or managers did not pay health permit fees or submit a permit application.
